YouTube tools: Shorts, Reels and thread chains
Cut long video into vertical clips on your own machine, and turn a video into a thread chain on the web.
Last reviewed 2026-07-20
There are two separate YouTube tools, and they solve different problems.
- YouTube → Threads — runs in the web app at /youtube. An AI watches the video and writes a thread from it. Costs 0.2 credit per generated thread.
- YouTube → Shorts/Reels — runs in the Dukun Ads desktop app at /clip. It cuts long video into vertical clips with burnt-in subtitles, processed locally on your own computer.
Step by step
Turn a video into a thread chain
Open /youtube and paste one video URL per line into ➕ Add video, then press + Add Video.
To work in bulk, use 🔎 Or extract every video from a single YouTube page: paste a channel URL (like
youtube.com/@name/videos), a playlist or a search result, press 🔎 Extract URLs, then pick from the thumbnail grid and press + Add Selected.Configure the generation
Under ⚙️ Generation settings, write the prompt that describes the thread you want — what to extract from the video and in what voice. Choose the Gemini model that watches the video, and set Max characters / post (200 to 480; 400 is a good default).
Optionally add an Affiliate product: a product name and link. When set, the AI weaves in a soft-sell and places your link in the final post of the chain rather than the first.
Press ⚡ Generate All New. Each video takes roughly 20 to 60 seconds while the model watches it, and a progress bar tracks the batch. Do not close the page during generation.
Edit and publish the chain
The page has three tabs — 🎬 Video Added, ✅ Post Ready and 🚀 Posted — with counts. Open a ready row with View / Edit to see one editable textarea per part of the chain. The first part automatically carries the YouTube thumbnail.
Choose the Threads account, then either 🗓 Schedule Chain with a start time or ⚡ Post Now. Parts are numbered and published two minutes apart so the chain reads in order.
Cut clips: choose the source
In the desktop app, open 🎬 Youtube → Shorts/Reels. Step 1 offers three sources:
- YouTube URL — paste a link. You also select which browser's sign-in cookies to use, because YouTube may require a logged-in session.
- Upload long video — choose a file from your computer. Use this if a URL is blocked.
- 📥 Downloaded — reuse a video you already pulled down, without downloading it again.
Cut clips: set the options
Then configure the cut:
- Clip length — 10–20s, 20–30s, 30–60s or 60–120s.
- Max clips — how many to produce.
- Which parts? — 🤖 AI picks best moments for unscripted talks, or ✂️ Sequential chunks for tutorials where order carries the meaning.
- Subtitle accuracy — a fast light model or a slower, more accurate one. The model downloads once, then runs offline.
- Aspect ratio — keep the original, pad to fit the target ratio, or crop to fill it. Ratios available: 9:16, 4:5, 1:1, 16:9, 4:3.
- Base caption — the caption applied to clips before you edit them individually.
Press ⚡ Cut clips. Cut more than you need — judging clips is fast, producing them is not.
Style the subtitles
Step 2 is subtitles and captions. Choose the subtitle type (generated from speech, a caption plus part number, or none) and style them: position, size, colour, font, and a nudge slider for vertical position.
You can generate subtitles per clip or for all clips at once, and each clip has a live preview with an editable caption.
Schedule the clips
Step 3 queues everything. Pick the accounts to post to — Facebook Pages and TikTok accounts are supported here — set a start date, how many clips to publish per day (1 to 6), and the posting times in Malaysia time.
Press ✅ Upload & schedule and the clips are spread across the days accordingly. Two clips a day from one video covers most of a week.
Tips
Limitations to know
- Thread chains are currently one post per chain — sequential chains are marked coming soon.
- The first post of a chain always carries the video thumbnail.
- Clipping requires the desktop app; the web page explains this rather than offering a fallback.
- Clip scheduling targets Facebook Pages and TikTok accounts.
